We’ve been looking back at 2025, and some of the highlights from our community outreach.

We managed to deliver 22 community Dr Bikes, repairing more than 250 bikes for free. Places we’ve popped up in are: The Baltic, Magic Hat, St Lawrence’s Primary School, Byker Primary, Trinity School and Newcastle Civic Centre, just to name a few.

90 Women have attended our Women on Wheel’s bike maintenance sessions.

106 young people gained bike mechanical skills in our Byker Street Bike Repair Workshop sessions. From April to October Recyke and Kids Kabin go out into the streets of Byker and teach young people bike mechanics on their own bike.

Recyke also supported during the winter months in Kids Kabin’s Bike Shed, supporting 88 young people to fix their own bikes
115 refurbished bikes all with a helmet, lock and lights, have been given away for free to children, families and individuals struggling financially, refugees and asylum seekers!

49 Volunteers have supported us throughout the year, refurbishing bikes, fixing bikes at our Dr Bike events, supporting the shops, and generally being legends.
8 asylum seekers and refugees have volunteered with us, building bikes for themselves and for other members of the public.
16 young people have volunteered on Saturdays over the year, stripping and refurbishing bikes. We’ve said goodbye to some long term young volunteers- Poppy and Ben!

These achievements are just some of the great stuff we do at Recyke y’Bike! We’re looking forward to increasing and developing our community outreach over 2026!
